Although I hate the term blog, I suppose that is what this is. Any weekends I don't do much on the Jensen, I shall write directly into this and for the bigger weekends, I'll link off to another page

Wisely enough, I had taken the day off after my efforts of the weekend, so I decided to just give the car a bit of a run in the evening to check nothing had gone badly amiss after the long run. She started without too much bother and ran nicely. I just ran around the block which gives me about 8 miles which is enough for the car to get nicely warmed up. When I got home, I decided to have a bit of a poke around to see if I could find out what was wrong with the lights and in the process destroyed what was left of the switch.

Later in the week, I put in an order with Andy for a few bits for the car. Most critical is a new light switch, but I also order a few body parts so I can get set to on the most crucial bits of welding.

Not a lot going on this weekend either. The main thing is the search for a welder. I try a couple of places in Longford which don't usually do welding, but I get a hopeful that I need to ring back later. The car gets a run.

My younger brother comes over and I let him have a run up the drive - he doesn't actually have a driving licence and can go further but is nuts about cars in the same sort of a schizophrenic way that I am.

On the Saturday, as Jo's mum is over, Jo and I get to go to the shops in Ballymahon on our own in the Jensen. We pick up a few jealous looks. I try a garage across the road for a welder and get a number of somebody who actually makes it his business to do welding on classics. After we get back, I run up to the garage in the Jensen for some fuel and charcoal, and later do a beer run into Edgeworthstown. The car behaves impeccably.

After doing a bit of ringing around for welders, I found somebody who might do it, but doesn't work weekends which means arranging to bring the car over during the week. I also took delivery of a nice box of bits from Andy, so I have some parts to put on at this weekend.

Went out for a bit of a spin after working from home. Submitted a question to the list about some bits missing from my carburettor. It turns out the fast idle linkage and a few other bits are gone.

Didn't really do much this weekend, as I had potatoes to dig. I did manage to get the car out for a run during the day so I could safely give the lights a decent test. When I got home, they had gone again. Didn't have any time to find out why.

I got a couple of responses from the list, and I need to take some pictures as somebody might have some spare bits.

Took the car out for a spin at lunchtime. Took a run to Legan which seems a nice little village. Managed to take some pictures of the carburettor in the evening. Details on the carb are located here. While taking pictures I noticed that the fuse for the lights had hopped out so that was easily fixed.
