The Car
The car is a 1971 Jensen Interceptor. I am not going to go into too much detail on the Jensen motor company as there are many better and more accurate sites devoted to the marque. Suffice it to say, that the company was a small volume manufacturer until the Interceptor. There were about 5000 Interceptors build from 1966 until 1976 and a few more under various rescue plans that rumbled along until just a couple of years ago.
Anyway, my car is red with a black all-leather Interior. It is an early Mark III Interceptor and retains the 6.3L (383 CI) Chrysler engine that was later replaced by a lower-compression 7.2 L unit. It is not fitted with any particularly interesting features and is all-in-all about as ordinary as one of these cars can get. I like her. I think the combination of Mark III interior along with the 383 engine is about as good as an Interceptor can get. While you don’t have to worry about overheating, you do need to worry about lead replacement in your fuel.
There is currently some confusion regarding the options fitted. There is not supposed to be any air-conditioning, but the switchgear and plumbing is all present but not working. Perhaps some details from Martin Robey shall enable me to get to the bottom of this mystery.
I am the 7th registered owner but it has likely changed hands a couple of times more. It has come into my hands in a relatively poor state but the engine runs and the body is relatively sound.
The car is basically running, but is a bit rough around the edges. A bit of minor bodywork should have her fairly watertight and I need to do a bit of electrics and engine stuff to get her humming along nicely.
